In early December, the Olympjoy International Curling Stadium opened in the south of Beijing. The complete ice and cooling technology for this hall - which is equipped with a total of five lanes - comes from AST China. In the future, the top-modern stadium will serve as a training centre, but will also inspire the local population for the sport of curling. Numerous programmes and activities for children and young people are planned. As a kick-off event, a large youth tournament took place one day after the opening.
The opening ceremony itself was also celebrated in a sporty manner. An invitation tournament was organised in which representatives of the embassies of Austria, Germany, Switzerland and France as well as four Chinese teams took part. Dr. Michael Berger, Economic Delegate at the Austrian Embassy in Beijing, not only gave the opening speech, but also took the first stone. Other members of the Austrian team were Andrea Kubista (deputy of the Economic Delegate in China), Christian Cyrus (Austrian Foreign Trade Centre Beijing) and Marko Asanovic (Managing Director AST China).
