OLYMPJOY INTERNATIONAL CURLING STADION

The Olympjoy International Curling Stadium was opened in the south of Beijing at the beginning of December. The entire ice and cooling technology for this hall, which has a total of five rinks, was supplied by AST China. The ultra-modern stadium will serve as a training centre in the future, but will also inspire the local population for the sport of curling. To this end, numerous programmes and activities for children and young people are planned. As a kick-off event, a large youth tournament was held one day after the opening.

The opening ceremony itself was also a sporting event. An invitational tournament was organised in which representatives from the embassies of Austria, Germany, Switzerland and France as well as four Chinese teams took part. Dr Michael Berger, Economic Delegate at the Austrian Embassy in Beijing, not only gave the opening speech, but also shot the first stone. Other members of the Austrian team were Andrea Kubista (Deputy Austrian Business Delegate in China), Christian Cyrus (Austrian Foreign Trade Centre Beijing) and Marko Asanovic (Managing Director AST China).
